Work from Home Tips

More and more people are working from home nowadays. For me, it’s just part of my normal schedule as I have been working from home now for almost 26 years. Over the years, I have had to manage distractions and adjust to blending together work and home environments.

I started out as a mom with a 5 year old and have run my business out of my home alongside my husband’s home building business. In the last few years, more of the family has joined in! My now 31 year old daughter and son-in-law also work out of the same house!

When your home is your office, there can be so many distractions that make it hard to focus on your work.

Here is some advice from other Shaklee leaders who are successfully managing their businesses from home.

Try to stick to a schedule. If working out was part of your lifestyle before, make the time and space for it now. I also like to get up before everyone else to set up my day. Having “me” time and intentionally setting up my day help me stay on track and keep me productive, especially when I’m interrupted by my kids. If I have a plan, I can get back to it even after disruption. – Cindy

Have the whole family’s activities in front of you. This could include the kids’ online school times, business calls or Zoom meetings, exercise times, etc. Write out a realistic schedule so that no one gets left out—including the dog! Her walk times go on the schedule too. Don’t forget to schedule play time too. After all this is added to the calendar, I block out pockets of time to do my Shaklee income-producing activities. – Leslie

Enjoy the extra time at home, whether it is by spending more time outdoors, knocking out some home projects, focusing on your health goals, or spending more time with your family. Your daily routine may be different, but you can take advantage of being home. – Rachel

Have a plan but also the ability to throw it out the window. Knowing what your priorities are each day is key, but so is flexibility when things don’t get done. – Tracy

What is your work from home mantra?

In our home we have a saying that goes, “Will this situation even matter in five years from now?” If yes, then we deal with it the best we can. If no, then we laugh and forget about it. – Leslie

I have two! Pencil it in and focus on your top 3! Too often, I lose track of time and then I wonder where my day went! “Pencil it in” helps me practice time-blocking and making the most of my schedule, especially with 3 little ones! My second mantra helps me to identify my top 3 goals for the day so that if my day doesn’t go as planned, I know that I don’t have to give myself a hard time for not doing “all the things.” – Laura

Find the joy in everything! – Rachel

Stay focused; no squirreling. If I am able to stay focused for even short bouts of time, I’m more likely to accomplish the tasks I identified earlier in that morning. Lack of focus will derail me, and I’ll have a harder time getting back on track, leaving me frustrated. – Cindy

Are there any Shaklee products that help you get through the day?

How many can I list?! Vitalizer™, Stress Relief Complex*, and Life Shake™! That’s my winning combo! It gives me amazing energy, keeps my stress levels at bay, and helps me eat more plants and get the extra nutrients I need! – Laura

We are thankful for our Life Shake™, Basic-G®, and for me, Stress Relief Complex*. But our favorite “product” is our business, knowing that every month, the effort we put into it means we will have our check without fail. – Leslie

Stress Relief Complex* and Shaklee 180® Energizing Tea are my “get through the day” products. – Tracy

I cannot live without my Strip and Shake, and also MindWorks® and OmegaGuard®. – Cindy
